Hello Darkness, My Old Friend

I love, love, love the end of Daylight Savings Time. In fact, when the idea to extend it came about a couple of years ago I was not pleased. I've always felt most alive in the fall and winter and adore that it gets dark early. Think of it as the inverse of seasonal affective disorder.

What?

It's 5 pm and already pitch black?

Fantastic!

It's as if you've been given a little gift of time when you look out the window and are convinced that it must already be well past 8, only to check the clock and realize that it's barely 6.

Bring on the darkness, baby.

I'm stopping by on my way to commenting on as many NaBloPoMo blogs as possible as part of the NaBloPoMo commenting challenge. :)

Yeah, it is a bit inverse to the norm. I know that I made comment (mostly because it's de rigeur at this time of the year) about it being dark at 5:30. However, it seems that the sky is a lot more colorful during the winter than it is in the summer; maybe it has something to do with the fact that there's a better chance of being outside at sunset in winter... :)

Bring on winter! I love all the seasons, but winter is my favorite, with fall close behind.

The worst part about living in Scotland wasn't the dark mornings and the 'pitch black by 4pm' winter afternoons, no, it was the summer nights. Aberdeen is so close to the Arctic circle that you can still read outdoors without benefit of a light by 10pm, can easily see at 11pm, and 'dawn' arrives around 3am. Sleeping in summer was a nightmare!

Give me some cold weather and I'm happy.

I second your vote in favor of the end of daylight savings. I loathe putting children to bed when the sun is still shining.
